Custom Short Links

Custom short links people can actually type

A code can answer to /summer-menu instead of a long identifier — so the same campaign works on a poster, in a caption and read out loud on the radio.

Claim your first short link A printed poster QR code being scanned by a phone, feeding a dashboard of scan analytics.

Why the printed link matters as much as the code

Not everyone scans. Someone reading a poster from a bus, listening to a radio spot, or looking at a photo of your flyer on a phone with a dirty lens needs a link they can type. A long random identifier is unusable for that; a short, memorable one is the difference between a lost visit and a completed one.

A custom slug gives the same destination two front doors. The QR code and the typed link resolve through exactly the same lookup, so the scan analytics, the routing rules, the password and the expiry all behave identically whichever way somebody arrives.

Changing a slug without breaking anything

Slugs are editable. When you change one, the code keeps working — the QR pattern encodes its own permanent address, not the slug — and the old slug stops resolving so it cannot be picked up by somebody else and pointed somewhere you did not intend.

If your plan later changes, a slug you already printed is preserved rather than removed. Taking away an address that is on physical material would break something in the world, which is not a reasonable consequence of a billing change.

What a custom slug gives you

What the feature actually does, part by part.

Pick your own address

Choose the words after the slash. Availability is checked as you type, with a clear reason when a name cannot be used.

Same code, two doors

The scan and the typed link resolve through one lookup, so analytics, routing, password and expiry behave the same either way.

Change it later

Rename a slug at any time. Printed codes keep working, and the old address stops resolving rather than lingering.

Reserved names are protected

The reserved list is derived from the site’s own routes, so a slug can never shadow a real page — including pages added later.

Readable in every medium

Print it, say it, put it in a caption or an email footer. One address carries the campaign across channels.

Kept after a downgrade

A slug already in the wild is preserved if the plan changes, because unprinting a poster is not an option.

No technical knowledge required.

1

Open any QR code from your dashboard.

2

Type the address you want in the custom link field.

3

Availability is checked as you type — pick another if it is taken or reserved.

Questions people ask

Straight answers to what usually decides whether this is the right tool for the job.

What happens to my printed QR code if I change the slug?
It keeps working. The printed pattern encodes the code’s own permanent address, not the slug, so the two are independent. Changing the slug only changes the typed shortcut; the old one stops resolving straight away.
Can I use any word I like?
Almost. Letters, numbers and hyphens are allowed, and a small reserved list is not — those are the site’s own page addresses, derived from the router itself so that a page added in future can never collide with a slug already in use.
Does a short link track scans the same way?
Yes. Both forms go through the same lookup and the same redirect, so a visit that arrives by typing is recorded, routed, geofenced and password-checked exactly like one that arrives by camera.
Do I lose my slug if I downgrade?
No. Slugs already set are preserved when a plan changes. You will not be able to create new ones on a plan that does not include them, but nothing already printed stops working.
Which plans include custom short links?
Every paid plan — Normal, Pro and Teams. The Free plan uses the standard code address.
