QR Codes for Hotels

The printed room binder is out of date the week it is printed. A code beside the bed is not.

6 ways to deploy QR codes

Each use case is solved by a different QR type — all available free on D-QR.

Guest Wi-Fi Without the Front Desk

A card by the bed joins the network on scan. Guests stop calling reception to spell a password, and reception stops spelling it.

The Room Directory, Kept Current

Breakfast times, spa hours, laundry, checkout — one page you edit in the morning instead of a binder you reprint in the spring.

Room Service and Restaurant Menus

Menu prices change and dishes come off. The code on the tray card stays the same while the menu behind it moves.

Message the Front Desk

A code that opens a chat with reception, with the room number already in the message. Easier than a phone call for a guest who does not want to make one.

Reviews at the Right Moment

On the checkout folio rather than in an email three days later, when the stay is still fresh and the phone is already out.

Real benefits, real results

Here's what switching to dynamic QR codes will do for your operation.

Questions people ask

Straight answers to what usually decides whether this is the right tool for the job.

What should a hotel put a QR code on first?
The Wi-Fi. It is the single most-asked question at any front desk, the answer is a string nobody enjoys reading aloud, and a Wi-Fi QR code removes the whole exchange. Put it on the bedside card and the desk tent, not only in the welcome folder that half of guests never open.
Do we need a different code for every room?
For the Wi-Fi and the directory, no — one code per property is simpler and the content is identical. Separate codes are worth it where you want separate numbers: per floor, per room type, or per placement, so you can see whether the card by the bed or the tent on the desk is the one being used.
How do QR codes work for guests without much data?
A Wi-Fi QR code needs no data at all — it hands the phone the credentials directly. For everything else, the guest joins the Wi-Fi first, which is a good argument for making the Wi-Fi code the one they meet on arrival.
Can we take a code down at the end of a season?
Yes, in two ways. Pause the code and it stops resolving until you switch it back on, or set an expiry date and it stops on its own. Neither requires anyone to go into ninety rooms and remove a card.
What about guests who cannot or will not scan?
Keep the phone number, the printed times and a small stock of paper directories at the desk. A QR code should shorten the path for the guests who want it, not become the only path — a hotel has guests of every age and every level of comfort with a phone camera.
